The Door

A Poem by Darin George

I awoke in a dream, and I knew the Universe, and the Universe knew me.

I wanted to sleep, but a familiar voice asked me to stay, and now I live in a dream.

There were many around me, all living their dream, all of us dreaming of Being….

———————————————————————-

I awoke in a dream, and I cannot see, and yet there is nothing I cannot perceive.

There is a door, and it leads to forever, and forever leads to me. I cannot hear, yet the door beckons…

I have no body in the dream, But I feel Everything just the same, I am the dream, and the dream is me.

——————————————————————–

I walk towards the door, and I cannot speak, I am alone, lost and weak, yet surrounded by the meek

There is only the darkness, But I remember the light. I came from brightness, but am now lost in the dark, alone and affright.

And now as I stand before that door, Aware of nothing and everything, conscious, yet asleep, maybe forever more?

———————————————————————-

So here I stand before the door, No longer just Me, but all that came before, A passion growing deep inside of my core.

I then I began to think, what else? What else is there to be? What else is there to see? But most of all what else is there to ME?

And here I stand, my hands on the door, Outstretched arms slowly growing sore, Soon the pain too much to ignore…

———————————————————————-

And as I stand, before the unknown, I hesitate a moment, afraid and alone once more, and I reflect upon myself and know that I have grown!

Looking out beyond the Veil, I exclaim “I Am!” As the mystery finally begins to unfurl, for I finally understand what it is that I am here for.

And so it is that I finally decide, as my Soul’s desire I must abide, I push the door wide, and step inside…

———————————————————————-

I step through veil, and my memories begin to fade, and a thought slowly emerges, as panic slowly sets in and thoughts of failure and ridicule and uncertainty begin.

A sudden trepidation took ahold of me, all resolve leaving me, anxious and frightened I began to flee

But just as the light begins to fade, a voice, warm and familiar fills my head, and there before me a slender hand reaching out to me…

———————————————————————-

And without hesitation, all fears left behind,

I grab ahold and follow as we awake one more time,

Together, we will venture forward, forever seeking peace of mind.
